  • As an independent study at Plattsburgh State University (advised by Dr. Danielle Garneau), I conducted research on microplastic bioaccumulation in fish and other aquatic organisms.  Wet peroxide oxidation digests performed in a lab to eliminate organic matter and analyze remaining synthetic matter. Synthetic matter was characterized (e.g., pellet, film, foam, fiber, fragment) and quantified.  I prepared and presented a poster at the 2016 Northeast Natural History Conference & the Center for Earth and Environmental Science Student Poster Presentation

  • As a Field Technician at the Center for Earth and Environmental Science at Plattsburgh State (supervised by Dr. Jacob Straub), I aided in the research of cavity-nesting duck habitats at the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, in Vermont.  Tree cavities were assessed and observed for wood duck nesting habitat using tree climbing techniques.  We also completed comprehensive forest surveys for Missisquoi NWR, analyzing forest composition and comparing forest community types within the refuge.  Prepared and presented poster at the 2016 Undergraduate Research & Creative Works poster program, Exploration & Observation, Albany, N.Y., and the 2015 New York Waterfowl & Wetlands Network: Developing a Tradition of Collaboration, Oswego, N.Y.
